It's a BOY!

We had our official sonogram this morning and the tech could tell immediately that we are having a baby boy!!!

She said that normally little boys do not cooperate for scans, that they misbehave … but she said ours was a perfect gentleman and she was able to get a good look at all the different parts.

She checked out bones, measuring femurs, etc., the heart, which was pretty cool to see the different ventricles moving together, the brain, the spine, the feet, the orbits or eyes … which actually look pretty creepy right now!

He weighs 12 oz … like a bottle of soda! And is measuring more like 20 weeks than 19 and 1 day, but no change of due date yet. He could just be a big boy!

So now, its time for us to pick a name … wish us luck!

Circles = Happy

We haven't done much planning for baby stuff so far during this pregnancy. The focus has definitely been on managing the all-day sickness.

BUT … the other day I decided to check out cribs on craigslist to try and get an idea of the price on there … and I came across this perfect baby bedding set from Target, that is now discontinued. I fell in love!

The nursery is going in the guest room for now … and we wanted to keep the paint color and bedding in there, but I never thought we would find bedding that matches so perfectly! You can barely see, but the curtains have some circles on there too. Its a very happy room! It will work for a boy or girl and depending on which we have, we'll pull out different accent colors.

The inset above is a little "dream" wall hanging I found before we knew we were expecting and its quite fun in there too (its really on a different wall at the foot of the guest bed). Hopefully there will be lots of sweet dreams in here!

The Belly @ 19 weeks

It's growing … finally! I am happy to report that I am finally gaining weight after many, many weeks of losing it. I lost about 20 pounds in all, thanks to all the vomiting. But, thankfully things have turned around due to sleeping pills and vitamins. Yup, Unisom and B6 have proven to be much more effective than all the prescriptions I've tried.

So, here we are … me and baby K … in our first "belly" picture. We'll try to do one weekly, so we can see the transformation.

We go in tomorrow morning for our "Official Sonogram" where they will take an in depth look at all of the baby's organs and everything … and if the baby participates … we'll get to find out if we have a he or she Kuykendall! We can't wait! And no, we don't have names picked out yet. We are looking forward to finding out the sex so that we can focus on one list and not both. :o)

Taking the Plunge

So, we've decided to join the blog world in hopes of doing a better job of sharing stories and pictures of our family life.

Here it goes … hope you enjoy!
