Have you met W. Shades McCool?

Our neighborhood is a safer (& cooler) place with him strollin' the streets.

Happy Father's Day!

Weston loves his daddy!

And I think he's pretty great too ;)

Tim, I absolutely love watching you be a Daddy.  You are such a natural at loving, protecting and providing for him.  I could never ask for a better partner in this journey and look forward to sharing each precious, frustrating, tender, priceless, terrifying, joyful, worrisome, sweet, and special moment of it with you!

It's only Monday

Well, its been a little over two weeks since my last post and there is much to report and lots of pictures to share (so many fun ones from a week long trip to Arizona with family!) but I just HAVE to share about today.

You remember this from my last post…

it shows Weston pulling up to stand in his crib.  I had helped him get there, but later that day, he did it himself and has been doing so non-stop since!  It is without a doubt his favorite activity.  He has actually crawled a few times too, which is very fun to watch his wheels turn, but he typically over-thinks it and gets back to sitting.  This doesn't stop him from pretty well reaching or getting to anything he wants too, but the typical crawling only happens when he wants something so bad that he quickly "sprints" for it and successfully moves on his hands and knees 2-3 times before getting there and realizing what he just did.  Those moments are so exciting and we are trying to catch them on video.  But he is WAY more interested in standing and taking steps while holding on to someone's hands.  He is a pro at pulling up, you don't even have to help him.  He just needs something stationary that he can hold on to and POP! he's up!  And the excitement he feels is absolutely contagious … sometimes he almost shakes he is so excited!  We do have this on video and I will post it very soon!

But back to today, Weston did THREE things for the very first time TODAY! It is so fun, but oh my goodness, slow down sweetheart!  It feels like college is next week … ha ;) I keep reminding him he is only 6.5 months old!

FIRST: This morning he was hanging out with me in our bed and he took a small blanket up over his head with his hands to hide his face, then dropped them to show his face!  I said "Peekaboo!" and he did it again and again.  We played for several minutes … Where's Weston … Peekaboo! … BIG SMILE! Adorable :)  But sadly just hours after daddy left :(

SECOND: This evening our friend Kim came over to hang out and after Weston ate his dinner, he was sitting on my lap while we finished ours and he CLAPPED! We of course applauded his applause and he was so pleased with himself … once he figured it out, he did it several more times before bed … he is very proud of himself … and so am I!  I think he's been trying to figure this out for awhile, but it didn't dawn on me until he succeeded tonight that that is what he was trying to do.  I am just continually amazed at how he keeps learning things that I am not (intentionally at least) teaching him. This is going to make celebrating even that much more fun!

THIRD: After his bath while we were getting him dressed for bed, he moved over to my side, put both hands on my leg, popped up, let go and STOOD UP!  OMG!  I was talking with Kim (yes I have a witness!) so we almost missed it, but he was just standing there reaching out for me balancing himself upright all by himself for a few seconds!  I was in total shock.  Now, I'm not going to start claiming that he can already stand by himself as I think it might of been kind of a fluke, but oh my goodness, that day is coming faster than I thought!  He does come by it honestly … apparently my dad never really even walked but just took off running at an early age and Tim started walking in his 7th month … so I better be on my toes!

And it's only Monday, what will the rest of the week hold?  Never a dull moment around here!

Well that was short lived …

So, Tim moved Weston's crib down to the middle level last Friday because he is now getting up on all fours and was occasionally getting himself to a sitting position from laying down.

Well, occasionally no more.  He has mastered sitting himself up over the past two days.  And now this is how I find him when he wakes from (or is fighting) a nap.

So proud of himself!

And with a little help …

(I know, I shouldn't be encouraging this, but its kinda exciting watching him learn new things!)

I can't believe we are here already.  Good thing Grandpa is coming today so he can move his crib down again.  So long middle position, you didn't even last a week!

Someone in our family has a special talent ;)

I always knew I was lucky to have him, but this confirms it ;)

Oops … forgot the 6mo stats

That's what I get for trying to do something on time ;)

Tim and I took him to the doctor last friday (5.21) for his 6 month well-check.  Here are his stats:
Weight: 19 pounds, 4.5 ounces (82%)
Height: 27.75 inches (90%)
Head: 97%

So, he's leveling out a bit, but still doing great!  All that activity is making him a lean, mean, fightin' machine!  But that head is still on the rather large side ;) I'm afraid he comes by it naturally!

He also got shots again which is definitely on my list of things I dislike most in this world.  I could never have that job.  I can hardly watch.  That red-faced, open-mouth, silent cry is enough to break your heart. Thankfully he recovers pretty quickly and I can't wait to scoop him up and get the heck outta there!
