He was due on Nov 16 and I just knew all along that he would be here before that. We scheduled an induction on Nov 24, but even my doctor didn't think we'd make it that far. But we did.
We checked into the hospital at 6pm on Mon, Nov 23. They gave me some medicine to help my body prepare for the induction the next day. It was pretty painless and we had a great night playing games with friends and family. Tim slept as well as he could on the couch and I did my best, but only slept about 30 minutes.
They started the pitocin about 8am Tues. I continued having contractions but wasn't feeling much. They broke my water about 1:00 and then I was definitely feeling things. Since I hadn't progressed much and knew it was going to be a long day, I opted for the epidural. A very good move!
Around 4:00pm, the doc came in to check my progress. Not much had changed. She said my contractions were strong enough that I should be progressing much faster than I was. At that point she said we could either do a c-section then or give it a couple more hours to see if I progressed further. We opted to wait.
When she came back, there had been significant progress! So we continued on, getting checked every couple of hours or so with progress being made, albeit, VERY slowly. This did not deter our faithful fan club of family and friends … our support system was a huge help in getting through the long wait. Unfortunately we didn't get a pic of our friends that stayed into the wee hours of the morning … but here is a huge thank you to Yobany, Denise, Kim, Tiffany and Ofelia for all your support!
About 2:15 am, they called me fully dilated and we tried pushing a couple of times. Each time, Weston's heart rate dropped significantly. The doc had us wait another hour and we tried pushing again … but it was still putting too much stress on him. The doctor said that there was no way that he could sustain that much stress through the delivery and that we would not have a healthy baby. So at 3:15, we decided to go ahead with the c-section.

My family … Aunt Chelle, Nana, Aunt Kendall & Cousin Jackson … complete with fan club T-shirts, a fun tradition we starting when Jackson was born!
Tim's family … Grandpa & Granna Kuykendall.

They didn't waste any time and Weston Scott Kuykendall was born at 4:05am on November 25, 2009 weighing in at 10lbs, 10oz and 22 inches long. WHOA BABY! I was expecting a big baby, but not THIS big! I actually thought someone was playing a trick on me because I have a slight obsession with the number 10!
- His weight … obviously!
- His birthday … 11.25.09 … multiply 2x5 and you have 10 … 11.10.09
- Our room … we were in room 28 … add 2+8=10
Here he is all cleaned up. As the doctor said, after seeing his head, he did everything he could to try to come. By the time I got to see him again, it had already improved. I can hardly look at these pictures of his poor head. Thank you Lord for protecting him! So glad we decided to go with the c-section and not push any longer.
Love at first sight!
Best buddies already!
First family portrait!
A true little miracle!
